ABOUT ME

I am a graphic designer specialising in design for print, including typography, image-making and photography, with an increasing experience of web and some knowledge of video-graphics. I relish opportunities for self-development. I am a dependable and organised team member, able leader and motivated independent worker. I am creative and technically minded with a keen eye for detail, determined to produce the highest quality consistent results, looking for opportunities to excel in whatever facet of design I choose to focus on.

EMPLOYMENT

Senior designer Toolstation Ltd.March 2003 - March 2008

Joining the company in its infancy, I have had significant hand and insight into developing and refining all aspects of the Toolstation visual identity, as the company continues to expand, from a single store in Bristol into an international business with offices overseas.

Working as sole designer in a small start-up team, over the period of a 9 month secondment to the Netherlands, I have produced a complete Toolstation graphic start-up package tailoring the company brand and concept to the Dutch market, whilst maintaining UK commitments and roles by distance, travelling as necessary.

Substantially involved in over 35 of the core bi-monthly catalogues, including covers, page layout and product photography and artworking, graphics for stores, web, trade exhibitions, business stationary, assorted national and local press and magazine adverts, promotional card inserts and own branded products, as well as a body of graphical material for the re branding of the Western football league as ' the Toolstation League '.

I have gained experience liaising with printers and supplying artwork for a diverse range of print requirements, notably the computer-to-plate process of the web-offset catalogue. I have overseen printing of jobs on press, and regularly technically examine and proof my pre-press artwork.

I have proven ability to work consistently, and manage my time effectively whilst under pressure of deadlines. I have also been responsible for the training, and overseeing of several junior members of staff within the department as the company has grown.
